My name is Donna-Rae Porter, and I will be 59 on February 15. I am married, a mother of three grown children, and a proud grandmother of three. I was born and raised in Newfoundland before moving to British Columbia in 1995.

I spent my working years as a Red Seal Chef and later as a Health Care Aide until arthritis forced me to stop working. Horses have always been a passion of mine — from owning a pony as a child to competing in my first horse show at age 14.

After nearly 40 years away from riding, I returned to the saddle on June 4, 2022, during a trail ride at Bear Creek Ranch — a ride that changed my life forever. Soon after, I began lessons and purchased my horse, Rylee.

In 2024, at age 57 and with arthritic hands, I made the bold decision to begin barrel racing. Through determination, passion, and the support of an amazing equestrian community, I went on to win my first buckle during the 2025 season.
